The truth is, I’m more like you than you can imagine. I know life, relationships, and everyday functions can be hard, especially when dealing with struggles only minorities/underrepresented populations can understand. But that’s where courage comes in. As a young woman of color, I bring a different perception than most psychologists. In fact, my whole premise to therapy is culture based.
PSYCHOLOGISTS
I’M NOT LIKE OTHER

I believe that our differences influence how we live and experience the world. In my therapy sessions, I consider the cultural background and uniqueness of each person. Marginalized communities, in particular, seek validation of identity after facing so many hardships. I work hard to provide that. I do not judge my clients, nor allow shame in the room. Rather, I meet each person where they are in life and invite in their authentic selves. I always aim to create a safe space where my clients can let their guard down and share openly. That’s when true self-discovery happens.
Leading with Authenticity
I am truly grateful for the trust my clients instill in me. The greatest praise I’ve received in my profession is when clients tell me it feels like they are talking to a friend. My down-to-earth personality helps me foster authentic relationships. And my way of breaking down complex concepts into feasible hurdles helps me present opportunities for growth.
Therapy with a personal touch
Aside from being a naturally empathic person, I bring in all the knowledge and skills my education has bestowed me. With my credentials, I have been able to serve as a clinician, researcher, presenter, and consultant. Graduating from Howard University, a historically black university, prepared me not only with clinical and theoretical approaches to therapy but also with an appreciation for the richly diverse perspectives our backgrounds give. That’s key to making deep connections with my clients.
